Greek Cypriot Member
Mr. Nestoras Nestoros was born in Nicosia on 21.01.1972. He graduated from Kykkos B. Lyceum on 1989. After that, he studied at the Higher Technological Institute where in 1993 graduated as a Technician Engineer at the Marine Engineer Department. In 2006 he continued his studies in London at Brunel University, where in 2008 he gained the Master of Engineering at Engineering Department with distinction. Mr. Nestoros speaks Greek, English and Italian (moderate). He is married to Chariklia Strouthou and they have two sons.
From 2009 until 2014 Mr. Nestoros was employed at the Organization of Land Development of Cyprus as a Mechanical Engineer. Inter alia, Mr. Nestoros was involved with the Design, Supervision and Coordination of Engineering Projects, the preparation of Tender Documents, Energy Studies of Houses, Study and Implementation of European Directives and Regulations and more. From 1999 to 2009 he worked as Technical Mechanical Engineer at the Electrical Engineering Service. He was involved in the Design, Supervision and Coordination of Engineering Projects. Before that, from 1995 to 1999 he worked in Private Companies.
At the same time, Mr. Nestoros has been actively involved in the political life from various positions. He was President of Youth of the Democratic Party from 2000 until 2008. President of the Federation of Student Unions of Cyprus from 1996 to 1997. Before that he was the president of the Student Union of the Higher Technological Institute (1992-1993). From 1988 to 1989 he was the president of the Student Council of Kykkos B. Lyceum. In addition to the above, he was a Member of the Executive Board of the Democratic Party (2004-2014). Council Member of the Youth Board of Cyprus (2000-2006). Member of the Board of the European Council for Youth Cards (2005-2006). Member of the Board for International Youth Cooperation from 1998 until 1999. Board Member of Cypriot Students of Brunel University (2007-2008). Member of the Board for the Evaluation of the Higher Education Programs (1996-1997). Member of the School Committee of Ayios Dometios from 1998 until 2000. Member of the Steering Committee for the Organization of World Festival of Youth and Students in Cuba from 1997 to 1998.
Furthermore, he was a Member of the Technical Advisory Team for the Project ELIH-MED (Energy Efficiency in Low income households in the Mediterranean) from 2012 until 2013. Also, he was a member of the Technical Advisory Team for the Program EPISCOPE (Energy Performance Indicator Tracking Schemes for the Continuous Optimization of Refurbishment Processes in European Housing Stocks) from 2013 until today.
Mr. Nestoros he is owner of a Patent Certificate in the United Kingdom ( No.0810526.4). Also he is a qualified expert on the energy certification of buildings. He has been specialized in Waste Incineration, Airplane Cabin and Animal Waste, industrial equipment, water treatment systems and air conditioning systems and ventilation. He is familiar with the Cypriot and European Legislation and Regulations and he has attended numerous Programs about Public Service.
In addition to the above, Mr. Nestoros participated in dozens of Conferences about various issues, in Cyprus, Greece, United Kingdom, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Austria, Cuba, Brazil and Venezuela.
In March 2014 the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Anastasiades appointed Mr. Nestoros as the Representative of the Greek Cypriot community to the Committee on Missing Persons.
