Following a lengthy and thorough scientific process, the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) has been informed of the positive identification of 28 missing persons by the two laboratories involved - the Laboratory of Forensic Genetics of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics and the CMP Anthropological Laboratory. The work in both laboratories was carried out by bi-communal team of scientists.
The families concerned, with whom all the arrangements will be made regarding the eventual return of the remains of their loved ones, will be personally notified by the CMP Members. The CMP calls on the media to show restraint and to respect the privacy of the families concerned at this particularly difficult and emotional time.
The CMP sincerely hopes that despite the sorrow the families will undoubtedly experience, some peace may eventually be found following so many years of painful uncertainty.
